After reading this section, you have some guidelines as to what constitutes
physical, sexual and emotional abuse. Now you can use this knowledge as a standard to determine what actually happened to you. If you have some memories that you determine were abusive, write them down in your journal. See if you can add the fine details to give a more complete rendering of the experience. Jot down all thoughts, feelings, associations and images that are evoked by this memory. If you have no or few memories from the past, you may still need more time to remember. Or, you may not have been abused. If you weren't in fact abused, you don't want to get caught up in the feeling that you must have been. If this is the case, consider yourself fortunate!
