Introduction
Below are testimonials from members on how the ASCA program is helping them to heal and recover from childhood abuse.

The ASCA program changes lives. The resources and support I’ve received from ASCA has been pivotal in my own healing and recovery as an adult survivor of child abuse. Every step of the program, every word, guideline, and instruction contained in the manuals and meeting materials is expertly chosen with the specific emotional and physical needs of survivors in mind. The work is enlightening, empowering, reassuring, and restorative. I have met people of all ages, from all walks of life who have been profoundly impacted by the awareness that they are not alone, that there is hope, that they can heal— and transform their identities— from victims, to survivors, to thrivers. I’ve witnessed and contributed to a wide range of successes; from the difficult first step of acknowledging that childhood trauma has impacted someone’s adult life, to triumphant reports of self-care and self-advocacy, obstacles overcome, and goals achieved. I remain dedicated to ASCA even when life’s demands leave me stretched thin because the difference that it makes is worth the sacrifice to me. I know how hard and painful it is to navigate life without the knowledge and support that the ASCA program provides. I’m working to ensure that every survivor of child abuse has access to the opportunities that I’ve benefitted from as a member of ASCA.

I appreciate ASCA’s structured support groups, because of this the support experience is more predictable and efficient. I love it, I love the co-facilitators, I love the steps. The approach and accuracy that ASCA takes is so helpful. ASCA has been by far the best support group I have ever been to. The steps are actually accurate and helpful and have strong guiding milestones, the structured and organized meetings are a godsend and the co-facilitator’s themselves are healing and create such a warm healing environment unlike any other support group. ASCA has helped me unlike any other support group and is so welcoming and safe. I just can’t thank ASCA enough, it’s a breath of fresh air to find a support group that’s organized, productive and meaningful. I’m having a hard time putting all my gratitude into words and all the ways that I appreciate it. I’m so thankful I’ve found this community, thankful it exists and that to me it shines as an ideal role model for other support groups and other communities to follow/inspire. It’s really well done.

ASCA has saved my life. I have been doing the program for 22 years, and I don’t think I would have survived if it wasn’t for ASCA. There was no aspect of my life that was functioning. I’ve achieved a level of mental health I never imagined possible, via ASCA & therapy. I owe it all to both.
Thank you Norma Morris & everyone who created ASCA, for giving me a life worth living 🙏

I was abused by both my parents from the time I was a baby. I have suffered ill health and severe depression all my life. I have worked with therapists and support groups for many years. I had made a great deal of progress doing this. I started going to a few different ASCA groups 3 months ago. I have seen my progress in my recovery increase by 10x with these groups. To be able to share my experiences and my feelings with other people who truly understand because they have been through it as well has been life-altering. I feel more and more like I am thriving, not just surviving. There are good and bad days, but the good are starting to happen more and more.

During these last two years I’ve come a really long way by writing about my abuse and talking through it in therapy. Resources at Beauty After Bruises, Adult Survivors of Childhood Abuse (ASCA), and strength training a few times a week with a trainer were incredible catalysts in my healing process. The meetings offered through ASCA were, and still are, a space for me to share my stories and to hear experiences of others who have also survived childhood abuse. I’ll likely attend these meetings for the rest of my life.
Heading into 2023, and about to turn 49 years old, I finally feel like I have the tools to survive the life I was born into. Having found some healing and self-love, I look out into world with kinder eyes.
